I want to ask something—and I want REAL answers, not answers that sound good.

I hear people all the time say:

“I need a job.”

“I need money.”

“I’m looking for work.”

“Nobody is hiring.”

But then when an actual job opportunity becomes available, suddenly there are very few applications.

Some people don't respond. Some don't follow through. Some want the opportunity but don't want the schedule. Some don't want to travel. Some don't want certain types of work. Some only want to work if the pay is exactly what they want, and some simply never apply.

🤔 So here's my question: WHAT IS REALLY STOPPING YOU?

Is it transportation?

Childcare?

Your criminal background?

Not having the right certification?

Fear of being rejected?

Low wages?

The schedule?

Not wanting temporary or gig work?

Not knowing where to apply?

Feeling discouraged because you've applied so many times?

Are you waiting for the “perfect” job instead of taking the opportunity that's available right now?

Or is it something else?

And I'm not asking this to judge anybody.

I'm asking because I’m actually trying to understand the problem.

At AAERS, we are building a gig staffing community where we connect people with opportunities in the event industry. When opportunities come through, I want to know what keeps people from taking advantage of them.

Because there's a BIG difference between:

“I want to work.”

and

“I am prepared to work when an opportunity becomes available.”
